چکیده

We extend the Charge-Displacement (CD) analysis, already successfully employed to describe the nature of intermolecular interactions [L. Belpassi et al., J. Am. Chem. Soc. 132, 13046 (2010)] and various types of controversial chemical bonds [L. Belpassi et al., J. Am. Chem. Soc. 130, 1048 (2008); N. Salvi et al., Chem. Eur. J. 16, 7231 (2010)], to study the charge fluxes accompanying electron excitations, and in particular the all-important charge-transfer (CT) phenomena. We demonstrate the usefulness of the new approach through applications to exemplary excitations in a series of molecules, encompassing various typical situations from valence, to Rydberg, to CT excitations. The CD functions defined along various spatial directions provide a detailed and insightful quantitative picture of the electron displacements taking place.

Studies on Electronic Charge of the Hydrogen Bond Proton in Model Molecular Systems

The population analysis of the hydrogen bond atoms was analyzed within the different basis sets for model molecular systems for the ground and low-lying excited electronic states. The Mulliken, Lőwdin and Hirshfeld methods were used in our investigations. It has been shown that normally the proton is transferred, however, in some excited electronic states the hydrogen atom displacement might be...

به کاربردن تقریب دو حالته در تولید هیدروژن با فرود آمدن پروتون بر روی پوزیترونیوم

Although there is no experimental data available for antihydrogen formation following antiprotons impact on positroium atoms, as a charge transfer reaction, at incident energies which are suitable for antimatter high-precision spectroscopic studies, measurements were carried out for its charge-conjugate reaction i. e. hydrogen formation, by protons impact on positronium. In this study, a two-st...

Photoinduced intramolecular charge transfer to meta position of benzene ring in 6-aminophthalides.

Substitution of non-fluorescent phthalide (Pd) with amino group at meta (6) position in relation to the electron-accepting part of the lactone ring completely changes Pd photophysics: a new long-wavelength absorption band arises and the molecule becomes highly fluorescent. The experimental data and the analysis of vertical electronic transitions with TDDFT method indicate that the first absorpt...

Microscopic Parameters in the Excited State of Toluene and Some of Its Haloderavatives

The Ultraviolet-visible (UV) spectra of toluene, ortho-bromo and para-bromo toluene in different solvents have been studied. The electric dipole moments and polarizabilities in the molecular excited electronic states were determined. It was found that the electric dipole moments for the excited states (µ*) and the ground states (µ) of these compounds are equal, and the change in dipole moment i...

Butadiene. 3. Charge Distribution in Electronically Excited States

The vertical transition energies for butadiene have been calculated using the CIS/6-3 1 1 (2+)G* theoretical model. The observed energies were satisfactorily reproduced. The charge distribution for each of the excited states was calculated so that the change from the ground-state distribution could be examined. The nature of the Rydberg states are discussed. Quantitative information on the degr...
